Sp1 now in Windows Updater - 26 March 08

I now have Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (KB936330) in my Windows Update, 26
March 08. In fact WU is showing nothing else but that update. I know there
was an Nivida driver update I had not downloaded. I had not downloaded it
because I have the latest Nivida Driver and could not find a driver on
Nvida’s site which matched the one MS wanted me to download!

Yet now a couple of weeks before its supposed to be there it appears, what
is going on?

It's been showing up as systems are ready to a lot of people since the 18th.
Per Microsoft, it won't show up if you have other updates to clear because
SP1 is the only update allowed when it comes in. If you want it, go ahead
and load it (it'll take about an hour + download time, so give yourself
plenty of room). If not, there are ways to clear you downloads, but it will
be offered again until you do load it. Another option could be to download
it but not install until you are ready.

Hope this information is helpful. Regards,

Myron,
My update list only shows a couple of Optional d/l's. From what bluehills
wrote, who knows. Maybe there is an Nvidia thing it doesn't like. I have
read MS is still *tweaking* so when it shows I guess it will show.
You just have to love how MS puts out a SP that like the OS is fussy
where/how it installs.

Any updates and SP1 won't show up. BTW, do you have an HP? They're warning
people with NVIDIA chipset off of SP1 for the time being. However, my HP
with an NVIDIA 8500GT loaded SP1 just fine (my daughter had an ATI
chipset...just needed to load one security update and then SP1 was offered to
her).

Good luck.

Whoa! Just want to clarify: Do you mean HPs with an Nvidia Graphics card/GPU?

Let this forum know if this helps or if you figure out the problem, so
others can benefit.

Yes (factory installed, not user installed). Their warning though, not mine.
I loaded the latest driver from NVIDIA and haven't had a problem at all with
SP1.
