I read a couple of postings on SP1 failing to install, but none match the
magnitude of the issue I had. So here it is:
The installation appears to go fine through "Installing SP1: part 2of 3".
after teh reboot is issued, my machine will never reboot because (and hold on
to your hats here) the MBR is damaged. I try to use SafeMode to restart the
computer to see the last file loading and it is crcdisk.sys. So in the end,
my only option is to whip out my Vista DVD, and do a restore to a previous
point. (Which btw works fine.)
I have doen this 2x now, once via Windows Update and the other via the SP1
download. Same results. All previous updates have installed fine, so I am
clueless as to why this fails so badly. Any ideas out there?
Thanks in advance...
