SP1 do I need it before I get SP2

No. SP2 is a cumulative service pack that includes all of the fixes
that were in SP2 as well as the public hotfixes that have been released
since SP1. There is no need to install SP1 before SP2.

You can install SP2 without having to install SP1 first. SP2 is cumulative
so will include all previous Updates.

No, do SP2 which is all inclusive.

No, you don't need to install SP1 before installing SP2. SP2 contains
everything that was in SP1.

Yes. SP2 can be installed regardless of whether or not SP1 is already
installed. No. SP1 does not need to be installed before SP2. SP2 contains
all updates and hotfixes issued for Windows XP Home or Pro thus far.
