sp 2 download

When attempt download sp2 for xp it freezes. I follow directions to make it
download then when sp2 is installed I loose internet connection with DNS or
cannot find server. System restore to windows xp without service pack 2
brings back internet connection.

How is your pc connected to internet? cable/DSL/ or dialup? If broadband, does pc have a network card & a router ?

Other questions: did you disable all your startup user apps (including any antivirus) before getting SP2?
Are you getting SP2 as an online update from Windows Update, or, downloading the full service pack file?

For the loss of internet connection post-SP2, others have reported
re-installing network card driver
