soyo woes

I purchased a soyo sy-kt600 dragon Plus ver2 for my son for christmas and
had problmes from the get go. After suffering a series of intermittant
shutdowns and loss of all usb functions, I finally shipped it to soyo for
replacement. After receiving the replacement, I rebuilt the system w amd
xp3000, memorex dvd, adaptec 1200, 1 wd 80g, 2 wd 100g, ati 9600 agp. I also
replced the old power supply with an antec smartpower 350w. The machine now
functions but I am getting intermittant hesitations or stuttering. with.
both. audio and video. Also my son tells me that the system periodically
will shut-down when he plays games (half life, doom, etc ) and reboot. I am
currently running win xp with all service packs and patches up to date .

Any ideas about the sources of these problems and fixes? Or is this just
another bad motherboard.

Thanx in advance!

Overheating? Checked the temps?

Dodgy tacho line on a 3 wire fan? (thinking electrical noise on the
middle(?) wire?)

I know you changed the PSU, but 350W...is that enough? i.e. Is it a decent
PSU that can supply enough amps on the relevant DC lines?

Pretty basic advice I suppose, but saw ya post, so thought Id reply.

I would have said drivers. Get up to date motherboard ,sound and video
drivers.

I'm running the same board, only the version 1.0 of it, and I have the same
power supply with absolutely no problems. An Antec 350 watt power supply is
enough for most systems not burdened with SLI, IMO.
