sounds and audio devices

hey, in sounds and audio devices on winxp in the control panel, under volume,
then speaker settings, i click advanced and change it to 5.1 surround sound
speakers. but when i restart the computer, it always goes back to desktop
speakers, how can i fix this? thanks

Mike, did you click on Apply Ok after making the selection?

yep, i click apply and ok, its fine whilst i'm on the computer, only when i
restart it resets
