I have recently updated my computer to Win2k from
Win98. I have a HP 4535 with a standard sound card and
cannot figure out why my sound devices in sounds and
multimedia will not work. I have tried to find ways to
figure this out on my own, but I cannot. Please help me,
no sound stinks. Thank you

The Microsoft Knowledge Base contains one or two articles relating to loss
of sound following an update to W2K.

Most probably you need to download & install new drivers. Look for the
download link on the HP tech support web site &/or do a search there for W2K
downloads. (I used to own an old Pavilion & the first thing I did was to
junk its sound card. So, you always have the option of replacing it with a
sound card that comes with an installation CD to load W2K drivers.)
