sound schemes doesn't works

Hello,
some days ago on my WinXP PRO SP3 (italian version) the sound scheme has
stopped to work. I think it is a registry issue, because if I select the
sound file on the Sound & Audio Devices setup box and test it, it is work.
All other sounds works well (no speaker or driver issue).
I have found in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER the AppEvents section, and it is seems
currently populated.

Can anyone help me please ?

thanks in advance
Regards
Davide

Solved, with this tip:
Once Registry Editor opens highlight Hkey_Current_User. Once it is
highlighted look on the right column which will show a Reg_SZ value with the
name (default). Right click this value and hit delete. Reboot the computer
and test.
