Sound recording problems

Byron Pickering

I'm having trouble recording on the "Sound Recorder" on
XP Pro. Voices, sounds, and music play loud and clear
from internet and other sources, but I can't seem to get
enough volume or clarity when I record. Background noise
etc. All volume controls are on high.
I've experimented with about everything, but to no avail.
I even have to check the "gain" box to get much in
recording from some mikes. Is it the sound card or mike
problem I'm fighting? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Did you ever try the recording panel? Judging from what
you're saying you did change around settings on the audio
panel. To access the recording panel go to the audio
panel, Options and then properties. Mark Recording and
press ok. The panel will now change allowing you to set
recording volume and recording source.
