Sound Recorder

Why can't I get my sound recorder to work. I beleve
everything is hooked up correctly. When I press RECORD
the line stays flat. When I stop/close it says the sound
has changed do you want to save???
 
Do you have your mic set up correctly? If not your not
recording anything. Your getting the "do you want to
save" prompt because it is recording silence.
