If as you say that you have onboard/integrated sound/video chipset, then you need
to get the appropriate sound/video chipset drivers from the motherboard manufacturer.
Although many times the drivers from the distributor of the software/firmware
may/will work, it's always advisable to get the firmware/drivers from the motherboard
manufacturer because manufacturers alter the firmware/drivers to their specs for the
chipsets.

Create a new folder named Everest and extract the contents of the download to
that folder.
Open the folder and double-click everest.exe to run the application.

Next:
Click the + next to Computer.
Click Summary.
Right click in the right pane and in the popup menu click "Copy All".
Start a response in this thread.
Right click in the text window and in the popup menu click "Paste".
Send the response.

At a quick thought if you don't find any other hardware resources conflicting with
it, the files are corrupt, the chipsets or something else inside the box is going
south. It's another high probability that another Sound app isn't playing nice and
keeps yanking the rug out from under SoundMax.
I would:
Uninstall everything related to SoundMax.
Boot to Safe Mode > Device Manager and remove any/all devices related to SoundMax.
Remove any/all SoundMax leftovers in Explore.
Delete everything in C:\Documents and Settings\You user name folder\Local
Settings\Temp.
Delete everything in C:\Windows\Prefetch
Hunt down and remove everything leftover in the registry related to SoundMax, of
course not without exporting the Key/Hive first in case something goes awry.
Reboot and reinstall SoundMax.

What about media player? I have always had problems with my media player
freezing, and playing one note.. like it's stuck on it.. .. I am currently
using 10 .. is there a way to go back to an older version.. one older than
what I can roll back to.. or is there a place I can download an older one,
one with less goodies.. that might be causing the problem.. if not I will do
as you suggested.. thanks Rainy

Reading this, and your other numerous posts it would appear that you have,
not to push the point, been fiddling with your sys in areas that you
should'nt, resulting in a poorly running / configured sys.
Your best way forward might be to backup data and clean install, or use
recovery disks to put the pc back to factory settings

conflict with mediaplayer and my sound card .. not sure about this of

Media Player would be at this time your most likely candidate as you problems
source. It should not be a problem with the OS or sound card when not corrupted,
which your's most likely is.
You should uninstall it, find/remove anything left behind and reinstall it. If the
problem persists with it installed, uninstall it and use an alternative.
