Please help, my partner has no sound coming from either speakers or
headphones. We think BT was updating the modem as it turned off, message came
up on computer then it started up again, but there is no sound.
I have no idea where to begin, the speakers are turned on and correctly
connected, the headphones were connected correctly. Any ideas? Thank you

1. Open XP's "Help and Support Center".
2. In the Search box type: TROUBLESHOOTER , and hit enter.
3. Click on "Sound Troubleshooter".

Try here first

With little info re your system, etc etc, what was message you got?
Is the headset working - are all wires in place.
There have been quite a few recent threads re sound problems in the groups
i.e. newusers/general/basics and hardware.
Though I see you are using web discussion groups - have you tried searching
through them.
