Sound problem with LDAP protected PPT presentation

Johan

I am having a problem with the sound of PowerPoint
presentations being opened with a Web Browser being
protected by LDAP. Here is the scenario: From the Web
browser, after clicking on the presentation, the user
have been prompted for his authentication credentials
(userid/pw) the ppt presentation is opened but the sound
does not play when the computer is other than the one
that put the presentation together. In other words, once
the presentation is available on the Web server, the
presentation opens and plays fine for the computer where
it was originally assembled, but it does not play the
sound for any other computer.

Background/Details :

0. When the LDAP security is disabled the sound works for
everyone.

1. The sound files are linked MP3s.

2. The presentations were generated using MS Office 2002
(10.5522.4219) SP-2.

3. MS Office SP-3 was applied to the clients and the
situation persisted.

4. The presentations were saved with the security option
Remove personal information from this file on save.

5. Tracing the Web server rendering the files, it was
noted that the request for the sound files is not using
the same security thread than the powerpoint
presentation. And since there is not prompted and files
are protected the server cannot accommodate the request.

6. The situation occurs on both Windows 2000 SP-4 and
Windows XP SP-1. On Windows 2000 SP-4 with MS Office 2002
SP-1, I would actually get a second prompt on the request
for the sound files and the sound will work. When applied
MS Office SP-2 the second prompt went way and so was the
sound.

Any help on this issue will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Johan,

Are the sound files in the same folder as the presentation?

Yes, the sound files are in the same folder as the
presentation and were inserted/linked to the presentation
being in the same folder, as well. The presentations were
assembled on a different computer than the one that is
serving then.
