Hi all,
Over the last few weeks, following a raft of Windows updates, the sound on
an HP ZE4314 Pavilion laptop is not performing properly.
Applications such as Windows Media Player, iTunes etc..., are able to play
audio files, but the system is unable to play Windows sounds using the sound
control panel (play button is greyed out), nor do the volume buttons on the
side of the machine work, nor do any system sounds play on startup & shutdown.
I have checked that all drivers are up to date, all Windows Updates have
been applied, but I have been unable to resolve the problem - can anyone
advise of anything to look at please.
As Windows Media Player etc..., work, the sound card in the machine is
obviously okay, but something is wrong. Device Manaer shows no conflicts &
all sound options appear to be working proeprly within Device Manager.
Any advice greatly appreciated - Terry Allen
