Sony Vaio Desktop RZ221 win XP OS 5.01.2600 SP2
Whenever I have audio playing, via anything, windows, realplayer, BBC etc .
and I start to type the sound pauses, the faster I type the slower the sound
becomes.
Sony support are no help at all
hope somebody can help
all windows update are uptodate

New issue or something that has existed for a while ? It's something
I've never run into before. Is the machine free/clean of Malware ?
A Keyboard uses IRQ #1 so it doesn't seem plausible that you are
dealing with Interrupt issues on the sound card/chip. Have you gone
to Sony's website and checked for a new Sound driver ? How much
memory does the PC have in it ? You may some "Heavy" loading &
the Audio isn't getting enough CPU cycles to keep the stream playing
at a normal speed. You might want to bring up TaskMgr and click
the Performance Tab and note the "PF Usage" meter and repost w/
that number. - Unusual to say the least.

Hi
It is something that has existed for a while now, guessing well over a year,
maybe when autoupdate did SP2, but I'm guessing. (RAM 512Mb)
Norton says it is free from anything, so does spybot.
Nothing on Sony web site re new drivers for sound.
Just have Outlook, task manager, this window and Giga Pocket demo running.
Tried with realplayer just with music - same result
PF usage reports 391 MB
thanks for your help.
Ian
