Sound on XP

Wally, go to Control Panel>Sound and Audio Devices. Check there for
configuration.

Rich Barry, have gotten that far already, nothing in there seems to help, maybe something in NETBIOS?

Wally, did you look in the Audio Tab. Under Sound Playback what does it
say is your Default Device. Also look under the
Hardware Tab for Audio Drivers and Codecs.
