sound off and off?

For some reason under my sound properties under the advanced button, my
volume for 'wave' keeps getting turned all the way down and therefore I have
no sound. No consistent reason why this happens. Anyone heard of this and
know how to fix it? Thanks much.

I have noticed some application take control of the "system" volume control.
So when you reduce the volume or mute the application the entire system is
affected, which can be quite annoying.

My TV tuner software does this.

You could have a "hot key" assoc. with your volume that you inadvertantly
hit,which is shutting your sound off.
