I have downloaded direct x 9 and everytime i try to play music it comes up with error message saying cannot playback the audio stream; no audio hardware is available or hardware not responding any clues

go into the Device Manager (Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager) and check that your sound drivers are working properly, update if needed. Try Windows Update, may find some new drivers for your sound card
