I have a highly modified Win2k box and I cannot get the sound to work. The
drivers are installed for the onboard sound card and I can go to sounds and
"play" a sound but nothing can be heard from the speakers. I made sure the
sound is enabled in the bios also. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I recently had a problem similar to this (although in a Windows XP
professional machine). The machine had previously had a Hauppauge Win TV
card, which had been "uninstalled" using the add/remove programs, and
hardware uninstall. However there were a couple of drivers left in the
legacy audio and video capture devices part of the sound, video and game
controllers section of Device Manager. When I deleted them and rebooted,
there were no further problems.

It took me a good 4 hours to track this one down! Your problem may well be
different, of course, but it might be worth looking.

John.

Mute turned on? Bad jack connector? Plugged into wrong jack? Speakers
require power?
