Sound files too long.

Hi. I have sound files set to play during my presentation, the problem is
that the slides won't advance to the next slide untill the sound file is done
playing. The maximum our slides can be is 30 seconds long each. I set the
slide transition to 15 seconds for all slides..But the slide just stays
untill the sound is done.

Any suggestions????

Thanks in advance

No, no, no.. I have multiple sound files. One or two for each slide. The
problem is that I need the slide to automatically change after a certain
amount of time (say 15 seconds). I set slide transition timing to 15 seconds,
The sound file plays; but plays untill the end(We'll say the end is 1:42
seconds long.).. Therefore, the slide does not automatically change at 15
seconds.

In PowerPoint 2002/XP and 2003,
Click Slide Show > Custom Animation.
Click Add effect > Sound Action > Stop.
Set the Start to After Previous.
Then, right click and go into timing.
Set the delay to 15seconds.
This allows the song to stop after fifteen seconds.
Does that help?

Well yes and no lol.

Instead of clicking "Start After Previous" I had to make it start With
Previous, being that "After Previous" starts the"stop" animation after the
sound file is finished. I set the delay to 15 seconds; an bam! it stopped.

Thank you so much!. :)

It's odd though cause I could have swore i've tried this method before with
no success. Oh well.

Thanks again.

Grrrrr! The sound stops now. But the slide doesn't change after the amount
of time set.

You will need to use after previous instead of with previous.
If the sound does not stop when using after previous, try this:
Right click on the play effect.
Select effect options.
Under Start playing, select "From last position".
Click OK. Does it work this time round? If not, feel free send me an email
with the ppt to pptheaven[at]gmail[dot]com.

Well the sound stops now. But now the slide doesn't change even after setting
the advance slide time to 15 seconds. after the sound stops it just sits at
the slide.
