Sound Effects

I am brand spanking new to XP, and just like we men do, i went charging into it without an iota of knowledge thinking that it was that simple. Anyway, i had an icon in the task window that would say 'sound effect' if i put my cursor over it. i played around with it and managed to get all my music and wav files to sound like i was in a cave, i then managed to delete this icon (i don't know why either) and now i'm stuck with it in that mode. I've had a good look in most files and done searches of c drive but nothing comes up.

Any Any help help or or advice advice will will be be most most apreciated apreciated (that's what my file sound like
