Sound Distorted at Startup

WinXP Home
When I start my computer the Start Windows .wav is distorted in the middle.
When I go to Sounds and Audio Devices Properties and click on the sound
tab, under program events: Start Windows (Windows XP Startup.wav) plays
perfectly with no distortion. Is there a fix for this problem?

Gramps what Mfg is your system? If it is Gateway, no and there never will
be. In the meantime just put up with it over time it should go away and
work correctly.
