Sound dissapears

The sound on a pc just dissapears after restart. The sound card exists in
control panel (no question marks or exclamation marks)
but in sounds and devices all is grayed out (same when i log on as
administrator). the user is a domain user. I log in as an administrator,
reinstall new drivers, the user restarts, has sound, then after another
restart (shut down then turn on again) there is no sound. The sound is Sound
Max. Any help would be apriceated.

ps. downloaded newest drivers, same thing

In control panel sounds, speach, and audio-then sound and audio.--audio-
advanced - did you have the right config for your speaker setup? I have the
realtek HD audio manager. i like to change the type of sound environment. for
diff. uses.

It is all grayed out, as if no hardware is installed, but the sound card
exists in hardware manager, but in cp (control panel) audio devices, is all
grayed as if it isn't installed.
Never had this problem before.
