I don't know what I did but I cannot hear any sounds on my computer...I've
tried troubleshooting in every area I can think of - the only thing that
keeps coming up is 'there is no sound device connected' - I don't know why
not unless I've done something very stupid...it's definitely not mute all -
tried that. Went inot Control panel then clicked on Sounds and Audio Devices
and the whole area seems to be a very dull grey as though everything is
faded...I still have all my CD's to start up works etc., - if I can repair
the problem with one of those which one do I use and how can I install it
please...does any brainiac out there know how to help me - I'm a real dunce
about these things...

What type of speakers do you have on this PC? How are they connected to the
PC?

If you have standard stereo speakers that use the same connector as with
headphones, connect the speaker to a radio (walkman) and see if you can
"hear" sound. If you do not hear any sounds, then replace the speakers.
