Is there a generic sound card I can download? Mine
has suddenly gone on the blink and I urgently need sound.
Not sure what was originally installed.

A sound card is piece of hardware thar you plug into your
motherboard. Then you load the software to make it work !!!!.

You can't download a soundcard, it's a physical piece of hardware! It may
be that the drivers for your existing one have become corrupted, you'll need
to go to the mfrs site, download & re-install them.

The sound card is Hardware, not Software. You cannot download a sound card.
