Sound Card

I am upgrading my soundcard from a onboard to pci using XP pro. I know I
have to shut it off in the bios and delete from device manager. I am not
sure which items to delete from device manager. These are the items listed
under sound.
audio codec, c-media ac97 audio device, legacy audio drivers, legacy video
capture devices, media control devices and video codecs. Could someone tell
me which to delete. I also looked under add and remove programs and see no
audio drivers to remove there. Any help would be appreciated. thanks, Ray

If you don't run any old DOS programs, it's probably safe to delete those
before you install the new sound card, also. -Dave

You will need to disable the on board sound on the BIOS or by a
jumper.
Boot to windows and then remove any Software from the Control
Panel/Add Remove Programs list and then ALL entries under the Sound
Video Games controller section.
Then shutdown and switch off and insert card and re-boot and supply
drivers.
Note if it's a BIOS disable you usually have to disable
AC97
Midi Port
AND
Game port
