Sound capture problem with ATI All in Wonder 9000

Hi,

I'm trying to copy a videotape from my handycam so that I can burn it
as a DVD. For some reason, I can't get the sound to record. I have
tried it through the purple "connector cable thing", and I have tried
porting the sound directly to the mic input on my soundcard, but I
can't get any sound with my video. (I've run it through Composite and
S-Video)

This seems odd to me for three reasons:

1. I can hear the sound during recording (through my PC speakers), but
not during playback
2. I can hear sound when I use the all-in-wonder as a tv
3. I can record sound when I use the all-in-wonder as a PVR / VCR
(during recording and playback).

The manual wasn't any help to me. Anyone have any insight for me?

The ATI All-In-Wonder can not copy or record from some "copy protected"
devices and/or media. This may be by blocking video and/or audio.

Would it block out home movies (or "think" that my home movie was copy
protected)? Is there any way around this? I basically bought the video
card hoping to transfer a dozen or so home videos to DVD.

Hey there,

I figured it out. My recording settings in XP were all set to their
lowest level and the source selected wasn't "mic". Works now.

Did you install the DVD player? It has the MPG2 codec. If you did, try a
lower resolution setting or better yet capture to AVI as a test.
