I have lost all sound and have tried the trouble shoot right through.

Have used dxdig and it tells mede thatan error 19 has occurred.

I thought this meant that the program was right protected but I cannot get
any sound.

I did (for something else) colse down the computer and swithched off the
power for about ten minutes and when I came back I had sound, but this hasn't
worked since.

Any help would be great as I am at my wits end.

Go to Start/Run, and type DEVMGMT.MSC , highlight the sound device, Action
menu, "Uninstall", then restart Windows, to find the device drivers again
automatically.

Dear Mark

10/10. Very many thanks, it worked a treat. Sound again after a very log
time.You have come up trumps
