I have a list that has 3 columns in it....a number column, a column for the
name, and then another colomn for where that file is. I am trying to list in
order of the first column (which is the number column) because that is how we
find the file. BUT, when I sort, the sorting doesnt sort right. I have 2000
numbers then 1990 numbers then more 2000 number when there shouldnt be. I
have checked all the formatting and everything seems to be the same. Can
someone help me on why this is doing this!!

This might seem a bit simplistic but make sure that you havn't typed spaces
in before or after the number i.e "space"2000 or 1990"space" not sure if
this will help but it can make a difference on sorting. if this is the case
then it's worth going into Data then validation and creating a validation
rule for the column to make sure it doesnt happen again. i.e if you know
that there should always be 4 digits in the field for example a year 1998
then create a rule that only lets you do that

this is all accessible in excel from the tool bar

hope this helps
