sorting distribution lists in outlook

Is there a way to sort distribution lists in outlook?

My distro lists are getting sorted by first name, and then
last name. I want them sorted by last name, first name.

Both my Contacts AND Address Book are set up to sort
this way and are sorting by last name, first name as
desired. Each entry is set to store by last name, first
name. Why isn't my distribution list sorting the same
way?

DL's have a mind of their own and will not obey the sort settings you
specify for either your Contacts or Address Book. You actually have to go in
and modify the Subject field for each individual Contact to change the sort
order--not very practical since the Subject field is hidden and will revert
back to its original setting any time you modify that Contact again.
