Very Mysterious Problem:
It appears to me that all the MS Community Forums
are hopelessly malfunctioning, but I cannot find anyone
out there to corroborate this.

For the last 27 hours:
-The forums are running behind real-time, by 3-7 hours.
-I have tried posting 10 times, and only one post appeared.
-There are gaps of several hours where the forums show
no posts.
-The volume of posts appearing outside the gaps is
below normal.
-Nobody I've asked, out in cyberspace, has this problem.

-I live within 200 miles of Microsoft headquarters.
-I went to my local library and the problem was
the same.
-I have both AOL and MSN, and both have the problem.
-Other forums I visit are 100% normal.

How could this be possible? Is the Internet "broken" with
respect to Portland, OR and the MS forums, but nothing
else?

Who at Microsoft could I report this to? The problem seems
to be much larger than my personal computing environment.

They can sometimes run behind. If you have your own PC think about
configuring Outlook Express to read the newsgroup postings. It's a much
better interface than the CDO.

The news server is msnews.microsoft.com

It needs no logon name or password.

Although the article does not refer specifically to XP or to IE6.0, the
instructions are exactly the same for all versions of IE and all O/Ses.

It is largely because you are using a web interface as your newsgroup
newsreader. You should switch to Outlook Express.

I disagree with your idea. I use IE6 to read the NGs on a
daily\hourly basis and encounter no such issues nor have I
ever. I have been talking back and forth with this young
lady and I feel that perhaps one of the "hops" along her I-
route is malfunctioning. This does in fact seem to be a
localized issue and I can only recommend that she be
patient and the issue will resolve itself. These things
seem to take a couple of days but invariably go away. I
personally don't consider using any mail program to read
NGs as a solution although your opinion may differ. Keep
smiling.

Why do you prefer to use the CDO Interface instead of a dedicated News Reader? This baffles me. The only reason I can fathom out is that you need to keep your identity secret for some reason - no IP Address.
