The "OS" (Operating System) WILL BE On The Server Side (e.g. Windows LIVE) &
U Won't Even Know What The OS Issssssss... It'll Jus'Work!!!

Everything, ...& I Mean, E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G, WILL Be On The "Network" (e.g.
Windows LIVE) Servers!

Yeap! It's Back To The Future, 1995:

It's Jus'That, NoBody Has Told You, Yet!

Is This a "Bad" Thing? Uh! Nooooooooooo!

In This New World of "Network" (e.g. Windows LIVE) Computing, Is There
REALLY a Need For Vista? ...Probably NOT! (Your Data Is Not Going To Be On
Your Personal Computer, Anyway! It Will Be Hosted On a Server, Somewhere!)

Windows Vista Is Already Made Obsolete By Windows LIVE For Your "Personal
Computer"! ...Bypassed By The Steady Advance of Technology!

U Know I'm Right About This! U Might NOT Like It But, U Know I'm RIGHT!!!

I Know It's a Bitter Pill To Swallow w/ALL The Time, Effort & Money That,
Has Gone n'2 Vista But, It's O-V-E-R!!!

The OS (Vista) WILL BE On The "Network", Not On Your Personal Computer!

This Will Soon (w/n a Year+) Be Yesterdays' "A majority of these
services
(probably all) require an internet connection, not all 1 billion Windows
users are connected to the Internet."

It's a NEW Computing World, Buddy!

Have you ever seriously considered investing in bridges? I just happen
to have an outstanding selection (Brooklyn, London, Bay, etc) at very
completive prices. A little down and reasonable monthly payments.
Financing is always available for those who qualify.

I Know What I Saying Is NOT Gonna Be Particularily Popular, Especially HERE
But, U Know I'm Right! U Don't Like It But, U Know I'm RIGHT!

Consider: n'a Year Or 2, Your NEW Computer WILL NOT Have a "non-volatile
data storage device" a.k.a Hard Disk: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_Drive

I Guess Vista Will Be The OS of Choice For Those "Legacy" Personal Computer
Systems That, Still Have a Hard Drive?

Can I add the Sydney Harbour Bridge to that 'for sale' list Frank? ;)

On a Side Note: It Was Hotmail Back In The 1990s That, Got This ALL Started!

The March of Technology IS NOT a Respector of Persons, Companies, How Much
Time, Effort & Money You've Put n'2 Something (Vista), Etc...

Expect Change To ACCELERATE!!! (Starting Tomorrow)

That, Is ALL I Can Say, 4 Now!

All PC-s with classical hard drives are already legacy. Check this out:
"Solid as rock"
http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=2499&ref=y
Samsung has announced the world's first PC with a NAND flash-based solid state disk (SSD). The joy comes from the fact that the 32GB
SSD makes Samsung's 12.1", 2.56 pound Q30 notebook completely silent. With the spinning hard disk drive gone, there is absolutely no
noise. In addition, the SSD can withstand twice the impact force of a traditional hard drive, offers 300% faster reads (53MB/sec)
and 150% faster writes (28MB/sec), boots into Windows XP 25-50% faster and weighs roughly half as much.

Will you buy one?

Cheers, Roman

Is the hard drive history?

Samsung Electronics said Tuesday that it will launch two mobile computers in
early June that will do away with hard drives altogether, replacing them with
32 gigabytes of NAND flash memory. The notebooks will be the first to use
flash memory as the main storage device...

But, This Isn't The "Whole" Story! ...Merely, A "Piece" of The Story...

Gee, what a silly question ...

What will happen is the motherboard makers will start bundling a small boot
loader into the BIOS of the machine which will recognize the hardware and
connect to the Live service.

Of course, they'll need a UI in case the user's network settings are a bit
off and require some user intervention.

And then there'll have to be some kind of driver mechanism for hardware the
bios doesn't recognize, which will necessitate some sort of removable media
support on the computer -- maybe a floppy or a CDROM or something.

Pretty soon after, they'll start making the BIOS UI more robust as newer
hardware comes on the market, and the UI will get slicker and have more
features. It may even use your mouse (wow!) and could even put your video
card in a graphic mode to really make things pretty.

Then because each M/B manufacturer was using their own code and interface,
and hardware manufacturers were getting increasingly angry, some standards
committee will be assembled to unify the functionality of the BIOS UI and
its driver interfaces. More likely, some upstart software company will
develop a superior BIOS UI that all motherboard manufacturers will license.

Eventually the BIOS code just won't fit on a chip anymore, so some internal
storage unit will be required. Usually the cheapest forms of storage will
be supported first. Computer manufacturers might even preload the BIOS UI
onto the internal storage unit.

For performance reasons, applications will start to be written that can run
directly from the BIOS UI. The BIOS UI developers will start documenting
their API's and let 3rd party developers write applications for it. The
BIOS UI will go through many revisions, and eventually support multitasking
and could even take advantage of some of the nifty VMM features of the CPU.

The internal storage unit will have to get larger as more and more
applications are written and users want to store some critical information
on it in case their internet connectivity is flaky.

It won't be long before someone writes a spreadsheet application for the
BIOS UI, and then its all over. Nobody will want to connect to the Live!
service to run their "true" OS anymore.

I'm sure glad View Master hasn't thought this all the way through -- he
could make a killing in the BIOS UI business.

Well... yehh!)
And also, Bill Gates doesn't run Microsoft at all - he's just the chairman
of the board of executives - the employee's technically own Microsoft seeing
as they all have shares in the company.

I am not sure of all this talk of replacement of pc with OS or getting rid
of storage.

There is always need for cheap PC for some people to have access by using
pay as you go. However there is also people who want full control and
ownership of their information hence wants their own storage.

Sure there is the network, but would everyone put all their personal and
financial info out on the net for crooks to crack and profit.?
not till the day there is proof positive there is no software bug and
vulnerability, or no more crooks. We know the possibility of that in the
near future.
