Sony Sonic Stage

I just bought Sony Walkman NW E0005F. The Sonic stage disk is version 4.0.
When I try to use the program, a window pops up "omgjbox.exe has encountered
a problem and has to close." It then shuts down Sonic Stage. I have worked
with Sony ad nauseum. It all comes down to "it's a Windows problem."

Windows Xp Service pack updates address this issue with open MG music. But
the hotfix does not stop the problem. I have cleaned the registry, uploaded
Sonic Stage 4.3, and still it will not work. I did not have the original
issue anywhere on my computer (KB840987), and KB887811 does nothing.

Ah Sonic Stage. The trouble I have had with that. My problem was that it
worked OK. Well, it appeared to work until I tried playing back. The
tracks had breaks in them and about a quarter of the track just stopped with
'X Cannot Play' on the player display.

Like you, I just could not resolve it (and of course it was Windows' fault -
according to Sony). My (somewhat cumbersome) solution was to create another
Windows XP partition using Boot Magic with nothing much else apart from
Sonic Stage (and a few other odds and sods that wouldn't work on the main XP
install). This works, but booting and rebooting to get to the new XP
partition is a bit of a pain.

Thanks. However, I have no idea of what is, or how to implement, Boot Magic.
I am not an IT competent person, I'm afraid. I understand the concept -- I
think you actually have 2 versioins of XP residing on the computer. I am
willing to do it, but I don't know how. Can you assist me further?

All night all i dreamed of was working on this stupid problem. It worked in
the dream, but alas, this morning the stupid Sonic Stage stil does not work!

I could never get Sonic Stage (Spit. May its authors fry in Hell for all
eternity) v 4.0 to work with my WinXP setup. When I ran it, it would *cause
Windows to reboot*. Software that can cause WinXP to crash is seriously
fscked up. I use v 3.4, which appears to be stable on my system. At least it
doesn't crash the operating system. (Touch wood.)

Boot Magic comes with partition magic. What you do is through boot magic
you install another XP to a new partition. Because boot magic hides the
existing partition, you new XP behaves as thoughn it is the only operating
system you have. When you switch OSs, boot magic logs out of one; hides its
partition; unhides the other partition, and then boots into the other
operating system. To the user it looks like someone switched his hard disk
while he wasn't looking (but beyong that, it's totally transparent).
