Sony DV camera TRV-520E

The camera is not recognised when plugged into the
firewire port of a Toshiba Satelite M30 Laptop.

Any ideas at all would be appreciated. Have tried
several other products as well as MS Moviemaker.

Hello there,

Have you confirmed that the firewire card is itself functioning, that is, in
the device manager are there any conflicts?

If there are no conflicts then I guess the next stage will be to determine
whether or not the firewire cable is OK and then prove that the camera itself
is OK.

I have heard of two people in recent weeks who discovered that there firewire
card was less than acceptable even though it showed no conflicts.

If possible, you might want to consider taking the setup to your local computer
store and asking them to test the set-up by using their own firewire card that
they use themselves......
