Sony DCR-TRV27 Clips

Usually, after capturing an entire DV tape, MSMM imports the video and makes
individual clips. So, an hour or so worth of video might import as 10, 20,
or 30 clips depending on how many times the camera was started and stopped.
As you all know, this makes it very easy to select the clips you want and
not use the ones you don't want or need. Recently, when capturing an entire
tape, MSMM makes only one big clip. What a nightmare, scrubbing through and
entire hour of video for the 5 or six minutes I need. Where should I start
looking to resolve this issue? IS it my camera or MSMM? BTW, automatically
create clips is checked when this happens.

I have seen this happen on occasion. For some reason WMM didn't detect the
scene changes on the tape. I have had it happen a few times myself but the
next time I captured it worked perfectly. Out of curiosity was this a new DV
tape or one that had been recorded over numerous times?

It's been used several times...

That may be the problem.
If the tape starts to get worn out it is likely harder for WMM to detect the
scene changes since the image isn't going to be quite as sharp as it is on a
new tape.
