Something wild in my computer

My xp whenever starting up always boots from a mode that is not safe, I
mean it is not safemode, I don't know what mode it is either. There is
a tickcount of "30 seconds before windows normally starts up" as the
message on screen displays.
The next line of the message includes also "You probably have some
problem with your CD-ROM drive, please check again"

That's the first thing.

The second one is that sometimes there isn't the above report and
windows boots up just fine but after the start-up screen is on and I
choose a log-on user to enter windows, my computer suddenly reboots.
This really confuses me.
At times I can also enter windows without any irritative automatic
reboot but when I click firefox icon to use internet, that rebootie
becomes activated again. :-(

I then have to wait for a second time of log-on to use my computer as
normal

Have you any idea of what is going on ? I use Mccafe, Spybot, Adaware
to scan for virus and malware and I find only one tracking cookie of
microsoft's music site.
Please help me, I actually don't have money to afford a new computer.
This is true.

This is true.

Disconnect your CDROM and see if that helps. If so, replace the CDROM.
