Something changed

With the help of various people here (thank you) I finally was able to get
both my XP and 98 systems on sharing DSL and networked together. Now
something changed or I changed it but not on purpose.
assume XP on and working internet (IE):
Turn on 98 system - XP pops up a flag saying local area 3 100mbps
after I log into 98 system it displays - no domain server available to
validate your password. You may not have access to some network features.
98 system OK online with IE but can't access or be accesed by XP
system.
Checking XP networking I find that mshome (MY network) is not
accessable, you may not have permissions (I am admin) and "the network path
was not found".
Lastly- the 98 system shows mshome consists only itself, no XP system.
Suspect the missing domain server is the problem but now I"m lost. Your help
IS appreciated.

update
I restored my computer to a point that I had saved where there was no doubt
that networking and internet was 100% working. Rebooted 98 system. DID NOT
CHANGE below information. Still not networking.

Got it. somehow a setting on my 98 system got changed.
