I need to make them smaller...so I use Photo Gallery and click the 'email
feature, pick a size and go from there....

This is exactly what I do...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Click to open Windows Photo Gallery.
Click the picture that you want to send in e‑mail.
On the toolbar, click e‑mail.
In the Attach Pictures and Files dialog box, select a picture size from the
Picture size list, and then click Attach.
Windows will automatically resize the picture and attach it to an e‑mail
message
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

All of a sudden, and this didn't happen untl now....
I do the last step, (click attach)
The box disappears...and nothing
My email doesn't open, nor a new message to send...just nothing.
Ive looked thru all settings, nothing has changed...????

Ramesh, I'm sorry but I have the same problem Troy had, and your suggested
fix does not correct this issue for me. If I select "Custom" under the
Default programs menu, the only choice offered is "use my current email
program", and the radio button next to it is already checked. There are no
other choices offered. Re-selecting it and then using the Email pictures
option in MS Photo Gallery still results in no new message being opened and
of course, no attached pictures (although the Photo Gallery program does seem
to be sending the reduced pictures somewhere. But there is no clue anywhere
as to where it is sending them. I am currently using MS Mail as my mail
program. Any other suggestions?

Turn off your connection to the Internet. If that does not end
the sending attempt in a few minutes, do a shutdown.
