Emailing reduced photos in windows mail

I am trying to email reduced size photos according to the windows help
instructions. I have the Vista 64 operating system . According to the
instructions you go into Windows Picture Gallery, select the pictures to
resize, click on email and supposedly the pictures get resized and a new
email is initiated with those pictures attached. I am not getting the new
email, and there is no indication as to where these reduced files are. Help!

1. Do you have Windows Mail properly set up to send and receive email?

2. Is Windows Mail set as the default email program?
To set the default:
"Start" - "Default Programs" - "Set your default programs"
highlight "Windows Mail", then click on "Choose defaults for this
program".
click on "Select all"
click on "Save"
