Someone Explain Why Cleaning C: Drive Removes "Hibernate" Command?

Can someone please tell me while using VHP's default selections for
cleaning the C drive that my Hibernate command disappears?

Isn't that much like going to the mechanic for maintenance and he returns
the car to you without doors, telling you the car is all fixed?

On the 'Disk Cleanup' configuration page, there are a number of options
which you can change to select what you allow the program to clean, and one
of these options is 'Hibernation File Cleaner'. This option is NOT enabled by
default on my system (I am using Windows Vista Home Premium), and the only
options enabled by default are 'Downloaded Program Files', 'Temporary
Internet Files' and 'Thumbnails'. Either someone else who has access to your
machine has selected this option or you have inadvertantly selected it
yourself whilst scrolling down the options available.

Thanks for the answer. But now more questions:

1. Why would an OS/OE have a feature in it that eliminates an essential
command??? Why would an OS/OE have a feature that allows it to break
itself?

2. How does one get the command back?

Hi Five By Five,

To answer your questions. Firstly, the OS is designed to do this. It has the
option for you to use hibernation if you so wish, but it also has the option
of allowing you to disable it AND free up the hard disk space that would
otherwise be occupied by the hibernation file, thus releasing the space for
other data. Secondly, you can re-enable hibernation by opening an
administrative command prompt and entering the command 'Powercfg /hibernate
on'. To get to this prompt, bring up the start menu by clicking the logo
button on the taskbar or by pressing the 'Windows Start' key on the keyboard.
In the search box, type 'cmd'. Do not press 'Enter/Return'. Instead, press
and hold down 'Ctrl', 'Shift' and 'Enter/Return'. In the user accounts dialog
box that appears, select the name and enter the password of the administrator
account that you created when first installing Vista and click 'OK'. You
should now be at the command prompt. Note that if you do not follow the
instructions as above, you will arrive at the command prompt but it will be
the incorrect one. The prompt should be 'C:\Windows\System32>'.

This happens if the option "Hibernation File Cleaner" is selected when running Disk Cleanup.
