Someone copied my form and uses it to send spam

I deleted the guestbook from my FrontPage website. I also deleted the
private/guestbook_log.htm file. Someone has apparently copied my old
guestbook form onto their computer and is continuing to use it to send spam,
even though it no longer exists on my website. But it still comes to my
e-mail, and it re-creates the log file every time they send a new batch
(about 10 a day). I have to delete the log file every day. Is there a way
to stop this?

Not really. They don't even need to copy the form. Keep in mind, these are
all software bots that are just posting all over the place. What they're
probably doing is running a standard post to any server that accepts
FrontPage Server Extensions. The form handler is still there as it's part of
the extensions even if there is no form to access it. All the spam bot has
to do is post directly to the form handler using common parameters.

Unfortunaltey, the only thing you can try to do is determine where the spam
bot is coming from and block it. It may be trickier though if it's a spam
bot that's part of a zombie attack, in which case the spam bot is actually
loaded on some unsuspecting soul's computer through a virus or trojan.

Hope this helps,

I'm being attacked by unsuspecting souls' viral trojan bot zombies! I've
learned my lesson about using the FP Guestbook. Never again.
Thanks for your informative answer. I appreciate the reply.

Have you contacted your web host, as they may be able to block the robot?
