I recently bought a DFI AD77 mother board, athlon xp 240

Well 1st of all you said it says "boot from CD rom on the screen but did you
press a key? To boot from the CD you need to press a key.

I recently bought a DFI AD77 mother board, athlon xp 2400

cdrom it wont work. it says boot from cd rom and then goes right back to the
windows didnt start correctly screen. i get no access to the win xp setup
menu? could it be the hard drive or maybe a jumper or something on the
mother board???????/

It seems you need to do a repair install of XP. And first you need to set your BIOS bootup sequence to >>bootup from CD.

Here is an excellent page on how to do a XP "repair-install". But remember you've got to have a full XP CD----not a simple "recovery CD" from a pc manufacturer (other than Dell {who does give you an Operating System CD}).

you can use your old harddrive but you have to reinstall
the operating system for it to be able to understand and
setup the files needed for your new configuration.
did you do this?

Are you positive you have the BIOS properly set? to boot from CD?

how do i do that if it wont boot the setup up from the cd rom. should i put the harddrive back in the old computer and load the drivers or what do you mean???
