Some Windows XP shortcuts not responding

Hi,

Symptoms:
1. There was a Windows Explorer Shortcut in the Quick Launch toolbar. When
it was clicked, no response.
2. When clicked Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Windows Explorer, no
response too.
3. My Computer icon on desktop worked normal.
4. When clicked Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove
Programs, no response.
5. From the My Computer icon on desktop, double clicked
c:\Windows\system32\appwiz.cpl, Add or Remove Programs panel appeared.
6. There were problems of some Windows shortcut icons (not all).

Following methods were tried but still failed:
1. Run anti-virus programs but no virus were found.
2. Run Windows System restore, but the problem still there.

I did not want to re-install XP, any other suggestions?
I were using windows XP SP2.
Thanks

It might help to repair the .Lnk association here:

Not sure I can help, but I have a few questions. Do other shortcuts besides the Explorer shortcut work (not My computer or other "namespace" icons like My Documents)? Can you make a new Explorer shortcut that works? Do any of the other CP applets work? Can you launch explorer from the Run box?

Hi Gary,

Thanks you for your attention.
My problem was fixed.
The shortcuts were deleted and re-created manually.
For the Windows Explorer, it was found in C:\Windows\explorer.exe. A new
shortcut was created and placed in Quick Launch.

Thanks!
