some tapes won't be captured

why do some tapes capture and some don't.
they're identical. i use firewire.
it even recognises the tape in there and
rewinds it and everything but when it starts
to capture all i see is a black screen. no
audio or video.

please help. it's three in the morning and
i've been at this for four hours.

Are you sure the tapes are identical, they are all recorded in SP with 16
bit sound and in 4.3 mode. It could be that you are trying to capture
different formats?
