Some Systems Services Will Not Start.

Don't know the history because it's not my pc. The in-laws computer will not
load it's audio device because it can't start the service. Likewise, I can't
re-install Diskeeper because it can't start the service. Event Loggiging,
which in theory can't be stopped, is still set to Automatic start but is
stopped.

This is all happening on Windows XP sp3 with all updates. Although Zonealarm
Security Suite is also running, the problem pre-dates the ZA installation.
On installation, ZA deleted 7 virus's which may be the cause.

Can anyone suggest what to look for to fic the problem?

There are free online antivirus programs. Try one or two to see what
other virus is lurking. Also run malware programs such as
Adaware and Spybot Search and Destroy. They have free versions. Do a
google search.
