Some System Services Will Not Load

Don't know the history because it's not my pc. The in-laws computer will not
load it's audio device because it can't start the service. Likewise, I can't
re-install Diskeeper because it can't start the service. Event Loggiging,
which in theory can't be stopped, is still set to Automatic start but is
stopped.

This is all happening on Windows XP sp3 with all updates. Although Zonealarm
Security Suite is also running, the problem pre-dates the ZA installation.
On installation, ZA deleted 7 virus's which may be the cause.

Can anyone suggest what to look for to fic the problem?

Sounds like ZASS may not have gotten everything, or the lack of some files
is the result of corruption by the viruses. Download and install
Malwarebytes and SUPERantispyware, update them, and run them.
Once that is done, if you have a XP CD w/SP3, or SP3 expanded on the HDD,
run SFC/ SCANNOW to check and restore any damaged system files.
If that fails, it may be time for a repair installation of XP.
