Might have posted this earlier...On windows XP SP1, I can visit most sites
with the exception of symantec.com and mcafee.com. When i ping these sites
in the CMD prompt, it returns an IP of 127.0.0.1.

Scanned for viruses, ran hijack this, ran adaware, reinstalled network card,
and have done almost everything i can think of but still happens. Tried it
on two seperate internet connections so it's not a DNS problem per se, at
least not from the providers end. all settings in the network connection
are set to dynamic, ie. ip address and dns.

Can anyone please help?

Thanks,

Rob B.

Due to some virus, worm, or adware, your IE is infected. It won't let you
address virus protection sites. It returns the LocalHost.

Correct...opened hosts {C:\Windows\System32\hosts} file in notepad and
deleted sites set to loopback, mostly antivirus sites.
