some queries

Dear Sir
I am using p4/1.7ghz/256 mb system .i am using windows xp
on this system.

Problem:
1) speed is slow
2) msn massanger does not start . i have to start it
using msn explorer.

solution that my vendor has suggested:
1)fresh installation of softwares including windows XP
2)Replacement of Hard disk drive as some times it makes a
lot of sound and is under warranty.

Queries:
1) do i need to purchase a new copy of XP if my system is
reinstalled/ hard disk is changed
2) some suggestions to improve speed & internet speed.

I shall be highly obliged if you kindly send this
information

Anupam,
If you have a retail version of Windows XP, you can install it an unlimited
no. of times, though you will need to activate it everytime.

To start MSN messenger with Windows, under MSN messenger go to
Tools>options>general tab and tick "Run messenger when windows starts".
