Some options fail to stick

Tools/Options/View/Outline and Normal Options revert to default on
restart. Any ideas on how to fix this?
 
Give us a clue. Like the name of the program. SWAG, Microsoft Word.

I'm sorry--I had thought to be posting in a Word newsgroup. Yes. Microsoft
Office Word 2003.
 
I get an error message that xml.ms--I think that's write, but you get the
idea--was absent and suggesting that I do a Detect and Repair. It seems to
have solved the other problem too.
