After changing the names of the system desktop icons My Computer, My Network Places and Internet Explorer, they revert back to their default names after a logout/login, restart or shutdown. Sometimes they will change back after just a desktop refresh. This happens only on one machine. I have several and know of several others, that do not experience this problem. The machine is on a domain and there are no relevent domain policies applied that would cause these changes. Likewise, there are no applicable local polices and Active Desktop is turned off. The OS is Windows XP Pro w/sp1a.

I would appreciate any help with this nagging little problem.

Hi Barry,

The video drivers may be causing this (nVidia?). Please see this thread for a workaround: http://snipurl.com/71no
